Backhouse Insurance Group The business reformed when acquired by Steve Backhouse, who took the business from strength to strength during the 1960's and early 1970's. On his tragic and untimely death in 1974 the company has remained family owned under the chairmanship of Shirley Backhouse. I cannot understand the negative reviews, it seems a little strange to me, even a little suspicious, perhaps they took insurance out then cancelled it? I have used Backhouse for over 25 years without any hassle, and have found them to be professional and easy to deal with at all times. When I had cause to make a claim on my house insurance, it was sorted within days and settled in full and paid out within a week. Brilliant company.

Critical: Professionalism After hearing what they did to my friend I would avoid, they sent him a letter saying they stopped his insurance, which he never received, my friend got stopped by police 6 points on licence, why couldn't they have sent a recorded delivery letter, plus they dismissed him when he called them to ask why. Please avoid

How terrible to stop your insurance without informing you, leaving you vulnerable to be dealt with by the law. A hefty fine & points on your license. Imagine if you had hit someone leaving them disabled & you having no insurance. I would be destroyed. How could you come back from something like that? Could lead to a jail term. They should at the least call you out of courtesy. After reading you're overwhelming ordeal I most certainly will not give my custom to Blackhouse Insurance, Brokers. I hope you were able to find more professional services.

I insured my car through this company, then they apparently sent me a letter saying my insurance was due for review, a letter I never got, I therefore, without knowing, was driving without insurance for a month, I was pulled over by police, to my shock, given 6 points, car seized and a 450 pound fine, this company just stopped my insurance without hearing from me, I was heart broken, I work as a professional, my mum and my daughters mum died on same day, which is why I didn't check direct debits, mum was only 67 and Debbie 39,,h ow hard it was going back to work, I was happy, my direct debits going out, but this awful company just stopped by direct debit, thus ending my insurance, iv still got 6 points and pay much higher insurance, I beg you not to use these people, if stopped and already warned people not too, I'm sorry to readers if I come across upset, but they really hurt me, ,,I beg, be aware from them, I check every direct debit now on line, but I'll never trust this awful company
