By far the WORST ins co out there I called when my windshield was broken they r the only ins co that do NOT cover glass. are u kidding me. I went with Usaa I ask Hartford for a refund they sent a letter saying they refunded my credit card. I paid with a check so after being on hold for 30 minutes since it's against there protocol to call u back. r u kidding me. the rude lady told me when I have more time call back. stay away the tv ads r misleading by far the worst. still ain't got refund guess it time to contact bbb

Malicious, horrible, incopetent. They revel in making claims as stressful and time consuming as possible. Even when they blatantly mess up (sending physical disability forms to my psychiatrist) they gaslight me and blame me for THEM faxing the wrong forms. If they want me to off myself, I will - but I'll do it in their office. These people want to profit from my death, well they can clean up the mess.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I have been an ER nurse for almost 30 years. I have dedicated my life to serving others. Even when it meant comprompsing my health (working with ortho issues, GI issues, etc) I became permanently disabled in 2019. I have been paying in LTD since I became a nurse. The Hartord says I am NOT disabled and can do any work.
I cannot wear closed toe shoes to to foot issues, I cannot raise my right arm (the dominate one) over my head and I cannot carry any weight with that arm. I have had 2 surgeries on theat rt upper arm, I currently have a plate from shoulder to elbow, 13 screws, 3 cables and 2 cadaver bones. I have had both knees replaced, I have had 5 surgeries on my left foot.
I have diabetes, I have had a heart attack and I have had a GI bleed. Yeah, Hartford, I'm healthy. I do not understand why a total of 40 years of working and killing my body is not enough. They have been horrible to me. I do not want anything GIVEN to me. I paid in, I worked my butt off, and now they don't want to compensate. Thanks Hartford. Hope Corporate enjoys their bonuses while I continue to suffer.

Took my money for a 6 month premium, then canceled my policy 2 months later. THEN refused to reinstate me since "I hadn't had coverage" for a couple months. (No claims, spotless record, stellar credit) The online support is non-existent. There are only 1-800 numbers, and if you don't live on the east coast, you have to call before 3 pm. Then the reps on the phone have very little information to help you. Apparently they tacked on another $47 to my policy, and since I hadn't ponied up the extra money, they canceled the entire policy!

This insurance company is a complete and total fraud. DO NOT do any kind of business with this greedy company. They took over $2800 out of my account and failed to clear it with me. They refuse to give me a refund. They said they sent the notification in the mail, however I never received it. Which is why a phone call or a text would be more efficient.
I told them I just wanted myself insured and ONLY ME when I signed up. However, they do a DMV check to see who is living at my address; I have two daughters living at my address, but their father insures them. They went ahead and charged me anyway. I opted for automatic payments so it came out without my authorization. I've tried discussing it with them but they cowardly hide behind their policies.
This company had over 20 BILLION in revenue in 2019. It's probably because they steal from their customers. DO NOT go with this avaricious company. This is exactly why people hate insurance companies. They are nothing but covetous frauds!

I'll follow up with this review after the claim is settled, but currently I am not happy with Hartford. My kids' dad died suddenly in November. I still don't have the life insurance payment for them so I can put it in a restricted account. It took 6 months for the lady working on our case, whom I'd spoken with twice before and called at least 10 times, to explain I could go ahead and send the claims forms without a court order.
After I did that, I received no confirmation the claim was approved. I just called and they said they had the paperwork, so everything's fine--but the person who told me this said she can't actually check if the claim is approved or not, so I'm not sure why she said that. I left ANOTHER voicemail for the person handling the claim. I understand leaving $ to minors is always challenging, but the lack of information and communication has made this much more difficult than it needs to be.

We have been with the Hartford for over 15 years, during Covid we were late only two times, which I took care of. This month unfortunately we were late, less than 10 days pass and I went online to pay the bill. They locked me out of my online account and stated after calling them that we could not re-instate our insurance. I would NOT do business with this company, I tried to reason with them, and explain that my husband is a Contractor.they don't care, even after being a valued customer for so long. I would rather do business with The General!

Horrible company. I could give them zero star if I could. They deduct money from my paycheck every pay check; I'm currently on maternity leave since Dec 2021 and I still yet have received any payment from them. They won't even reply to my voicemail. It's hard to speak with anyone, the lady working on my case won't return my calls. What's the point of paying money for something I can't benefit from? I do not recommend them at all.

I have to say, my first and only experience in 33 years with attempting to use my Short Term Disability benefit for surgery, has been a complete disaster! From overseas call centers to extended hold times, being repeatedly disconnected, receiving no return calls or correspondence, my claim has been denied 5 days before my scheduled surgery! I started this claim process a month in advance as I had heard horror stories of how difficult it was to navigate the system.
All true! Every step of the way has been stressful. The phone associates fail at every turn with misinformation or lack there of. It is impossible to know what to ask for when you've never filed a claim. Totally disgusted with the process and this company. Shame on you!

I have carried business insurance with hartford since 2017. I have never had a claim filed our anything that has cost them a penny, I have simply given them my money for the past 5 years. Well today I tried to renew my policy and was denied because they said on 3 separate occasions they had to contact me for payment. In ALL 3 instances I was enrolled in autopay and it was THEIR mistake.
When I told the hartford agent that detail he simply said "there is nothing I can do the decision has been made." I hate when companies make decisions based off of information they compiled off of a screen without actually doing any due diligence on their part. on top of that my quote for 2022 was more than TWICE the price of my 2021 policy. AND they stated they had to charge me $3,500 for an internal audit of my account. 1. There is nothing to audit, as I've had zero claims. 2. I audit my customer accounts all the time, I don't charge them for the audit. Insanity

Worst insurance company. Zero star! I have never applied the state disability but they made the offset/deduction on my paystub and said that I received the disability support from the state government. I tried to contact the agent for several days, through email, phone call and online chat, but the agent never gave me any response. I don't know if I am able to get the money back. Feel like the insurance is a scam.

WARNING about getting auto insurance with The Hartford: Do NOT go with this awful company (through AARP). That is, unless you'd like to pay a fine of $90+ if you decide to switch to another company to save money and if you do so before your ANNIVERSARY date (the month and day you signed with Hartford). I am 75. I don't switch car insurance often but I have before.
With every other company, I've even gotten a refund for the part of a month paid for but not used. Not so with Hartford! Oh no. You'll even get charged an "installment fee" (today I paid a total of $97) if you don't immediately pay their awful fine for leaving them. I think it is wrong of AARP to promote a company with this onerous policy - especially for seniors who change companies trying to save some money.

We've been at the Hartford for years. We are older and have AARP. Recently I looked around for better pricing, since every time I've try to get our payments lower due to no accidents or Tickets they said they couldn't, found State farm is about half the price Hartford was charging for the same coverage. Our auto-pay is to come out on the 27th of each month for the current month.
I call on the 17th to cancel our insurance, we switch to State farm. they told me that auto-pay would not go thur on the 27th.guess what, it did, now we having a hard time getting a full refund even though the see that its their mistake.they only refunded about half. also reported to BBB and filed a claim with our bank. Would not recommend, not helpful at all

This is by far the worst of companies to deal with for disability long term, I wldnt recommend them for anything to anyone, I was on short term disability, & everything was fine until I reached long term disability, they cut all my medical benefits I ws using in order to get myself physical therapy to get myself well after a car t-boned me @ top speed nearly killing me!

Just another example of how big business doesn't care about the little people. I had to contact them to get paid for my temporary leave from work. The process is extremely stressful. They never seemed to get the proper date right so I actually had to call EVERYDAY. Sometimes more than once. That still wouldn't get my issues resolved in a timely fashion.
The representatives are human robots that don't know anything that isn't in the "script". There is no empathy for your situation. In a time that I am too hurt to return to work, this has seriously been the worst and most stressful thing I have ever had to do. I wasn't able to give it zero stars even though they honestly deserve it.

I worked with the Hartford Group regarding an insurance claim and I received the settlement amount that I demanded. The adjuster that I worked with was pretty courteous and the settlement went pretty quickly via email over just the course of a few days. I would highly recommend working with the Hartford Group.

HORRIBLE COMPANY. AVOID like the plague! They take your money for nothing. When they make a policy change, you'll NOT BE OFFERED to take a look at the terms before agreeing, but will be automatically charged TWO MONTHS price in advance. How convenient. FOR THEM. Money in their pocket. Need to change your address at the end of the year? No problem! They'll hit you with a new, higher price RETROSPECT for the whole f@cking year behind us!

I would put zero star if I could. I injured my back, september 29 while I was working. My company made a claim for me to The Hartford. This insurance company assigned my a claim handler Adam K. who is the most incompetent person I have never had to work with. I injured my back and he kept sending me doctor for my knee. I contact one of the doctor in his list, and this guy was not even able to write the right letter so I couldn't get an appointment.
When he finally send the right letter one week after, that the doctor was a knee doctor and Adam anyway just mentioned my knee in his letter. Anyway we are one month later and this guy just sent me a new list of knee doctor and pediatric. I tried to explain him what is a pediatric and that knee is different than back. Since one week I don't even have any news.
I was so much in pain that I went to see a back specialist on my own. But now The Harford people refuse to pay for the medical expenses. Stay away from them, they are a scam.

This is the worse homeowners insurance that I have ever had. After a pipe burst and water damage to my home, i called to submit a claim. Since the initial claim, follow up calls have been completely ignored. It has been 2 months and the house is still torn apart. I called a repair company in and received estimates for over 32,000.00 and was sent a email today that said they sent a check for 13000.00.
It looks like i will need to contact a attorney to get this settled. After i will be changing insurance companies. They always say to call anytime. When I call, it goes to voice mail and no callbacks.

After getting my payment they hung up. I wanted to verify things on my USAA Hartford policy, didn't want to waste a day on the call. After making changes twice, the address i deleted was back. The phone attendant, after listening for a wasted 1/2 hour, said he couldn't make changes. He could not provide a line item of my coverages, so I could see how they totalled up. It's not in any of my documents, like on your auto insurance.
I didn't have time for another queue where he was going to transfer me, so I asked him to call while I was off the phone and have them call me. He could not say how they would notify me. He promised to call them for me and call me back with that answer, and took my number and hung up when I asked for his name again. Yeah he is going to call me back.
Oh he called! add a star. He is emailing the line item. I'm checking. He emailed it. one more star. Can't get too high though, as they are the reason i am calling back in the first place. Hope to give end of story before too long. Goal: lower premium, remove useless coverages. (my premium keeps going up $250 now 880).

Just an atrocious, deplorable group of people. You pay into insurance for years on end and when it comes time to actually file a claim, they FIGHT you with every fiber of their being. They will spend thousands in scandalous "peer to peer" reviews and hire a private investigator to stalk you for months if it'll save them one penny. In other words, if it'll cost you $10,000 to pay you for the benefits you are owed, but they can spend $9,999 to deny your claim, they will do so.
All this while you are without income and trying to heal from an illness. Having to file a disability claim through an insurance company like The Hartford is the fastest way to lose faith in humanity and be diagnosed with PTSD. They stall, "lose" paperwork, ask for additional information countless times, and when they finally have enough from your doctors to approve your claim, they will send it to a physician that they hired, that you've never met and whose never treated you, to tell them exactly what they want to hear --- that you are not disabled and they shouldn't pay you.
This is a clear conflict of interest and collecting premiums in bad faith. Their bad faith peer reviewing physician stated that I could walk up to 2 hours, stand up to 2 hours, or sit up to 8 hours at a time with no restrictions. The truth is I am completely bed bound virtually 23.5 hours a day. I can get to the bathroom and kitchen on my own a few times a day.
I have an attorney now, and I WILL beat Hartford in court. You WILL pay me every penny of the benefits that I'm entitled to in the end. It's just a pain in the rear to have to fight it for months and pay an attorney 25%.

If I could I would give a 0. This company is ridiculous. None of the representatives are on the same page. I went out on early leave due to complications with my pregnancy and now after 10 different answers I'm told I won't be paid because the state is paying me. However the state isn't paying me because I'm getting paid through the Hartford so now I'm a new mom going into surgery on Monday to deliver and am stressed out about how to pay my bills!
This company needs to assign one person who speaks clear English to each case. They need to have a liaison who will sit down with you and walk you through the process. Women who are pregnant should not be subjected to this kind of stress.

Make no mistake, if you have disability insurance through The Hartford through your employer, The Hartford works for your employer and not you. They don't care if your doctor released you to go back to work weeks or months ago. They don't care if you are unable to pay your bills. Communication is a one-way street, and you will be met with rudeness when asking for any updates.
The Hartford seems to believe they are exempt from following Federal ADA regulations, as they hide behind a disclaimer on their website that states that they work on behalf of the employers. If you are getting nowhere fast with The Hartford, please contact your regional EEOC office.

Water damage to wall due to next door condo unit A/C. You keep insisting because there is no broken pipe in the wall, that Hartford will not cover repairs. One of their insured drove into three vehicles totaling two of them (one mine) and one damaged. Due to their insured having a cheap-ass policy, they only had $5,000 to pay out for any accident, no matter how many cars are destroyed in that one accident. Unfortunately, that is the law in CA and insurance companies love it. The only way to make any difference is to take them to court. Contact me for any advice or questions on how I went about it. They refused to pay back my $1000 deductible, even though they settled and got paid off by the liable insurance company. I was clearly Not at fault. Other drivers witnessed the accident and signed affidavits claiming the other driver was at fault. I should get my deductible back. I have Full Coverage! I pay out big money to this company. I'm dropping AARP and The Hartford.

I've had this Hartford Insurance Co. for more than 25 years. At first it was a fairly good Insurance Company. It has turned into a nightmare. All that this company does it try to cheat you in any way that it can. I have had to cover the costs to replace items that this Ins. Co. should have covered. Never paid for a lot of things that were hail damaged to my home.
The agents stalled and put off covering personal items to the point that you just give up on contacting them again. I now need to go through the hassle of contacting the Insurance Commissioner in the state that I live in to try to get what is owed me. My premiums have slowly gone up to the point of being ridiculous. Stay away. let me repeat. stay away from using this company to insure anything.

This company is horrible. I sold my house and the inspector said my siding needed to be replaced. I filed a claim with The Hartford and they told me the siding was fine. I had five contractors come out and look at the siding. All five of them said the entire house needed new siding and they gave me bids. Don't waste your money with this company because they do not do their job at all.

If i could select no stars i would. I have been out of work for 5 weeks due to surgery. I have not received one penny from them. Everything time I call i am priority and my claim is going to be expedited. Not sure if they even know what that means as I was told this 3 weeks ago, expedited my ass! I have a letter that may claim has been approved and still nothing. STAY AWAY! go with Aflac or another source for disability insurance.

On October 19th 2020 I was in an accident. The accident was NOT my fault. The driver of the vehicle at fault was insured by the Hartford. It is now February 11th 2021 and The Hartford has done NOTHING to cover my damages and injuries. I will NEVER consider The Hartford for my insurance and suggest you might want to avoid them as well. I have police reports to back up everything I said. I have reported them to the Georgia Insurance Commissioner and as yet still have seen no action towards covering my damages. HORRIBLE! See my vans damage below.

Because of an error with the company I worked for I am getting $1000 less per month even though I paid for full coverage. They have made no effort to return calls to fix the problem. I have talked to them and they supervisor Trisha sheehe told me they were fixing it in underwriting'. It's been 4 weeks of waiting without money.yet I am still expected to pay the full premium nextnweek. with what money?
When the supervisor, trishia promises she will call me back, she NEVER DOES OR NEVER HAS. Everytime I talk to her( and this entails harrasing the front answering staff to message her, or physically go get her) she brushes it off saying it looks like payments are going through.yeah, they are at less than what I pay premiums for. Then she always comes up with excuses as to why it's not her fault and places the blame on other employees.
That is not what a supervisor should be doing she should be apologizing and following up on it with humility and understanding. She Says she will talk to them and get back to me. I did not believe this since at this point she is 'the girl who called wolf' since she has NEVER returned my calls and has never met me with a 'wanting to help' attitude', just a 'who, or what can I blame' attitude.
I am still waiting. Come Monday I will be asking for underwritings number and the short term disability supervisor above the supervisor trisha's number as I am sick of this frustrating, dead-end that I keep trying with no success.
